It's a crime to be creative in this family...

i escaped the dog, just about, however there will be a rematch as of next monday, plus with birthday festivities and carveries on the horizon i think i better update this sooner rather than later.

The images are kind of odd looking as they're photos rather than scans.

This was something my brother said (its from the lovely bones) but he said it in the heat of an argument. It was hilarious and lame at the same time.

This is an alphabet of hand drawn type. I'm becoming obsessed i know...

My sister wanted me to draw like a spaceman. I didn't know what she meant, so i just drew this. I am still a bit perplexed as to what she meant

I've been being held hostage by a dog

hence the lack of pictures. I wish i was joking.

Here is something from a while ago. It was an attempt to draw people (nooooooooo) and to use something that isn't a fine line pen (noooooooo) that wasn't black (noooooooooo)

I am not very good at teeth, there just ended up looking like there was millions of teeth that didn't really fit in the mouth. I know how to solve this though - don't draw open mouths

Action Alphabet

This is something that i did for my degree. It was meant to be letters that were created by doing an action such as grating, peeling etc blah. I actually really like it :D

Patterns are also fun - How a page on patterns can actually feature no patterns whatsoever

I think this is unfinished. After all what good is a page on patterns if there is no pattern. These go with an earlier piece on things that are fun.

Hand drawn type is surprisingly fun if you are the type of person who also finds train journeys fun

Don't mock me because my interests are slightly crap (a lot crap) but hand drawn type has become one of my favourite things to do. I just wished i knew what to write more often.

My mum is like a blue tit

This comparison was noticed by my little brother on Mothers day and i have to say its remarkably accurate. I think its the blue feathers that do it, they are uncannily similar to the blue feathers of my mum.

A public service announcement

A helpful and informative leaflet about what causes Sophie Roakes face to go red. A nation wide dispatch is imminent.

I hate old people and public transport

Ok, i don't hate all old people, i like my big Nan, she brought me drumstick lollies every Wednesday after school. But every other one...grrrr.

And i don't hate all public transport, trains are fun sometimes, and buses are even funner especially if it's a double decker and you are at the front. I like to pretend i am driving it (not improving the opinion of people who think im simple)

But in this instance, i hate them both, for these are two evil old ladies who did something outrageous (so outrageous i can't remember it now!) and it made me so bitter i drew this very quickly on a bus, i even used colour, this is almost unheard of.

Lets not point out the flaws with this picture, i am aware there are many. But my intention was to capture the meanness of these jowly, misanthropic grumps

Exhibit A in the series entitled "Why Sophie does not use colour"

An old page of trainer drawings. Ok they get repetitive and to be fair even i am tired of drawing them like this and yes i suppose i shouldnt say i don't do colour in any form because then that would suck even more. So rather than stick to a niche of liney trainer drawings in monochrome i thought i would add colour.

Today i added photoshop colour. Verdict- "hello liney trainer drawings in monochrome niche" Seriously awful. Reasons i feel this way (rather than just say everything is crap like normal!) are because the colours used are all wrong and i just am not that great at photoshop yet.

I plan on colouring each trainer in a different way each day, tomorrow fine line pen...
